Subject	Beginning engine rebuild...any advice for a first timer?

Message	I'm going to be starting my short block soon and I just want to hear what the people that have done their own rebuilds had to say as advice. I've read the rebuild section in the service manual several times over to the point that I've practically memorized it. Anything in particular I should be keeping an eye on? I'll be using CP 87.5mm 8.5-1CR and Pauter rods. One question in particular I have is how do I choose correct rod bearing size since I'm using aftermarket rods?
